A short & sweet new Substack format, every Monday with: trail news and latest inspiration
Welcome to Trail News, this is the natural evolution of the Monday Instagram Post . I’ll share what’s caught my eye in the women trail news, & next events to follow. Thanks for being here and if you enjoy reading, please share far and wide to others that might enjoy it too!
News:
Anna Troup wins the Montane Summer Spine outright and Irene Kinnegim takes second place overall. It’s a non-stop, 268 mile race along the iconic Pennine Way and it’s the first time that women take both 1st and 2nd place. Incredibly cool and amazing, hope this goes viral!
SkyRun Eryri part of the Sky Run UK Serie was this week-end with incredible Women performance too in this heat and 2 x course records, check out all the results here.
Rebecca Hormann adds another win to her year, completing the West Highland Way Race 95 miles & 14,000 feet, in 19 hours.
Broken Arrow Sky Race over in California was also happening this week-end, I loved Taylor Nowlin’s post about her 23k race:
“At the first aid station I ran to the table to grab my bottle and was told “No, these are for the elites!” I was huffing but had enough to insist “That’s me- that’s my bottle!”
What to watch:
Next week-end in California is Western States, 100 miles, the world’s oldest 100 mile trail race! Some women interviewed on the pod will be on the start line: Tara Dower, Fiona Pascall, Ida Nilsson, and Marianne Hogan. The competition looks amazing and this is going to be a women’s race to watch for sure.
90km du Mont Blanc is also happening on the 27th.
