A note from me 💌
It seems like hitting Publish on the first episode of She Trails Podcast on the 3rd of January was just yesterday. It was exciting and scary. But we are really doing this - celebrating female trail runners, the outdoors and movement - with 29 episodes so far. It’s been awesome!
I think often of what I would like those words, conversations, to bring you. Ultimately, I hope they are a warm reminder that we are all unique, worthy, that our paths are our own to explore, and dreaming big is not only for others!
Also: Thank you. For being here, listening, reading, messaging, sharing this project to others you know would enjoy. It means more than you know! Never hesitate to reply to this email, or message me on Instagram, I love to hear from you.
Enjoy the holiday season & see you in January for more
With love,
Julia
Blogs are back:
I have to say I am here for it, I enjoy a long read, especially when it’s about adventures & running. Some favourites I read this year thanks to mostly preparing for the podcast interviews or doing research:
Jo Meek’s article about her Dragon’s back experience, funny, real, I was so excited to have her on the pod after reading it.
Laura Swanton Rouvelin writing about her Mountain Spine Race. Ok it’s from 2022, but I couldn’t stop reading and honestly got emotional! Excited to see Laura take on this challenge again next year.
Libbi’s Lake, Meres & Waters attempt, not really knowing the Lake District, I love to read about all the different challenges out there, and the community coming together to help people towards their goals. Libbi’s challenge and achievement was another great discovery.

So let's take a look at 12 festive foods and how they can benefit your body this festive season.
The 12 Foods of Christmas:
Turkey: This lean protein powerhouse is rich in Leucine, an essential amino acid for muscle building and recovery.
Salty Potatoes: A staple for endurance athletes, salty potatoes replenish glycogen stores and provide essential electrolytes.
Cinnamon: This warm spice is packed with antioxidants, offering anti-inflammatory benefits.
Salmon: Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon supports joint and muscle health.
Cranberries: These tart berries are a good source of Vitamin C and antioxidants.
Chestnuts: High in fibre for gut health, chestnuts are also a lower-fat option compared to other nuts.
Brussels Sprouts: These love them or hate them vegetables are rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and fibre.

Red Cabbage: This colourful vegetable is a good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and folic acid boosting immunity and helping the body function properly.
Dark Chocolate: Enjoy some dark chocolate for its iron and magnesium content.
Ginger: This spice can aid digestion, reduce nausea, and offer anti-inflammatory benefits.
Remember, the holiday season is about enjoying yourself, and nutrition is just as much about adding to your diet rather than avoiding or labelling foods as "good" or "bad."
Merry Christmas :)
